- Enter up to 420 characters; line breaks are retained. Choose Dialogue (white with a dark outline), Plain (dark text), or Glitch (cyan/pink offsets), then Small/Medium/Large (54/76/104 px type).
- Example
- Input: ‘Just Monika.’ with Dialogue + Medium. The current renderer produces a 1640 × 241 transparent PNG: 1640 px wide and a height calculated from the wrapped line count.
- Export
- PNG only. Width is fixed at 1640 px; height is at least 220 px and grows with the number of wrapped lines. The browser’s downloaded file has a transparent background.
- Phone and desktop
- The controls and preview stack on narrow screens and sit side by side from the 760 px layout breakpoint. A phone preview is scaled to fit; the exported pixels do not change with screen width.
- Browser behavior and errors
- If canvas encoding returns no PNG, the editor reports that creation failed. Copy image can be unavailable or denied; use Download PNG. The code has no browser-by-browser test matrix, so it does not promise universal compatibility.
- Data boundary
- Text is drawn by the page’s canvas without a file-upload step. The Share URL includes up to the first 120 characters of the text, plus style and size; sharing can expose that text in the URL, browser history, referrer, or service logs. Do not use Share for private writing.
What this DDLC font generator actually makes
A font generator is useful when the image is already close to finished but the dialogue still needs to sit on top of it. This DDLC font generator creates a transparent PNG from the text you enter. The exported canvas contains the letters and their outline, with no solid paper or scene background behind them. That separation makes the result easy to position over a screenshot, a custom background, a video frame, or a panel assembled elsewhere.
The tool includes three visual treatments with different jobs. Dialogue mode uses a light fill and dark outline so the line survives a busy image. Plain mode produces dark text for light artwork, reference boards, or typography studies. Glitch mode adds cyan and pink offsets to suggest a corrupted interface without forcing a complete scene into the export. These modes keep the utility focused: you are choosing how the letters behave, not rebuilding the entire composition.
The page loads its font asset and draws the PNG with the browser canvas. The Share controls are a separate path: they create a URL containing up to 120 characters of the text, as well as the selected style and size. Avoid sharing private lines, even though image rendering itself has no text-upload step.
Why the DDLC dialogue font needs an outline
Visual novel dialogue rarely sits on a blank white page. It appears over gradients, character art, clubroom details, dark screens, and dramatic effects. A white line without an outline disappears as soon as the background becomes bright. A black line without separation becomes unreadable over a dark panel. The outline is a practical contrast system, not decoration.
Start with Dialogue mode when the transparent PNG will be placed over an uncertain background. Move to Plain mode when you control the background and want a quieter typographic layer. Use Glitch mode for a deliberate story turn, a fake error window, or a corrupted screenshot. The choice should follow the visual job of the line. Repeated effects make every moment look equally urgent, which weakens the one panel that actually needs emphasis.
The closest visual match is less important than readable hierarchy. A viewer should identify the speaker, read the line, and understand the mood before noticing the effect.

How to use the transparent DDLC font generator
The interface is intentionally short because the output is a single layer. Treat the first export as a layout test, then make one change at a time. This workflow is faster than polishing a line inside a full editor when the only question is whether the words fit the image.
- Write one visual beat. Enter the sentence that must appear in the panel. Keep a joke, reaction, confession, or warning focused on one idea. The tool accepts line breaks, so you can control a pause or keep a short second sentence from being stranded at the edge.
- Pick the treatment before the size. Dialogue, Plain, and Glitch modes establish contrast and mood. Do not use Glitch simply because it is available. Choose it when the visual language needs a signal that the interface or reality has changed.
- Check the preview against the final context. The checkerboard indicates transparency. It does not represent the color of the screenshot that will sit underneath the PNG. If possible, compare the export over both a light and dark background before deciding that the contrast is finished.
- Set a size that matches the destination. Small works for compact overlays and reaction images. Medium is a balanced default for a 1280-wide scene. Large is useful for a crop, title card, or a panel that will be viewed on a phone after platform compression.
- Download or copy the image. Download PNG produces a reusable file with transparency. Copy image places the PNG on the clipboard when the browser grants image clipboard access. If a browser blocks clipboard writing, the download path remains available.
- Place the text layer and inspect it at viewing size. A line that looks comfortable at 200% zoom can be too large in a social feed. A line that looks subtle on a desktop can disappear on a phone. Judge the finished composition at the size your audience will see.
